That said, in order to enable cookies on Internet Explorer 6, open the Control Panel, double click on "Internet Options" icon, then click on the 'Privacy" tab. When that loads, move the Cookies slider to "Medium". Click on "Apply", then OK. If that doesn't work, then move the slider to something lower and try again.

In regards to receiving Windows Updates, as far as I'm aware, then have NOT been any updates since the monthly release on the first Tuesday of August. That could explain why you haven't received any. Just to be sure, have you tried installing them manually by visting the Windows Update site? Open Internet Explorer, then click on "Tools" in the upper left, choose "Windows Update".
