Question

microsoft tv/video connection

Feb 11, 2014 6:43AM PST

microsoft tv/video connection seems to take over my internet connection. It moves the speed from around 1gbps to 30kbps Its very strange. I have searched for it and it was a problem in the past but, now, it seems back and this is the first time I have seen it. Somebody suggested that it messes with the ip address. Its VERY strange. It is not in network connections, it is not in installed programs, Its a phantom.

In this forum the suggestion for getting rid of it is to delete service packs 2 and 3 (seems a bit extreme?)

The part that bothers me is that it, in theory, creates a phantom ip address on your computer. I also assume that Microsoft has all the info on this so they can spy on you. I know, this sounds a bit paranoia like but why else would anybody want to do this and then hide everything away?

Once it pops up one cannot stop it, cannot disable it, cannot do a damned thing but restart and hope it goes away.

Anyway, I would be interested in thoughts on this one.

Thank you........

clarification

I have no idea what else to add, other than to say I have been moving an xp drive to a larger one, had a lot of problems, had to reinstall xp as a repair and had a hard time installing sp3. The tv/video driver popped up several times. It has now stopped doing that. If you google "remove microsoft tv/video controller" you will find all sorts of interesting posts and they are also for windows 7. You will also find several requests to microsoft to remove this. They received the requests but never responded. Then there is the ip address thing that it also installs on your machine. All in all this is a GREAT start for a really good conspiracy! <G>

I can't help those that think it's a conspiracy.

We used XP for over a decade at the office on hundreds of machines. But let's overlook what you wrote and head to the Device Manager. You can disable devices you don't want to use there.

This feature has been around since about 1995 so I can't guess how folk don't know about it and instead try to remove a device or driver rather than set it to disabled and move forward.

-> What is this about an IP Address thing? We need IP Address things to get on the internet. So as presented and I apologize but how else can I state this? Do you know what it is you are asking about?
