Resolved Question

Microsoft software that says "not for retail or OEM dist....

Feb 10, 2014 4:56AM PST

Hey everyone, hate to jump right in off the bat with a question, but can't find an answer anywhere. Even Microsoft couldn't tell me. Anyway, I bought a PC shop a little while back and it had quite a bit of software in it. I found a 6 disc set of Visual Studio 6.0 Professional in it. It has the key on the back of the jewel case, but on each disc it says " not for retail or OEM distribution". Does anyone know what that means or what I can do with them? Can I use them, sale them or anything? I've just never saw a disc that said that on it before. The guy that owned the shop was a Microsoft Partner, so I'm thinking it may be a volume license type setup, but I really don't know. MS just patched me thru over and over and couldn't give me an answer. Hopefully someone here knows and can tell me.
Thank you!!!!!!!

I received it as a prize at a seminar. It's yours to use as you see fit but is not a VLK. If you can find a poor sucker to pay for it, sure but in reality it's worth what we paid for it. Zero.

Besides with the new Visual Studio Express versions, you may want to forget that old system.

Thank you Bob for the explanation of what it is. I couldn't find anything on it and didn't know what I could or couldn't do with it. I may just keep it and use it then. I've been wanting to learn it anyway, so I guess this can be my starting point. It appears to be unused and not taken out of the holders so it should be good to use.

I really appreciate you taking the time to help clarify for me,
Nathan
