Microsoft Paint Software

Jun 20, 2004 4:53AM PDT

I've got Windows 98 with Netscape 7.1 as a browser and have enjoyed using the Microsoft paint program available in the program 'accessories' section. But now when we try to access this program, or the past drawings we've done that are stored in 'Documents', we get the notice sying 'This Program has Performed an Illegal Operation'...When checking under 'details' it says that MS Paint has caused an 'invalid page fault in module MFC42.DLL.' Is there a solution to this issue? Thanks much for your help. Eric

Use add/remove software - windows components (control panel) to re-install it. You may need your system disk. First remove it from the utilities list and then reinstall it.

MS Paint

I am also enquiring about the windows 98 Paint that automatically comes with Windows. Mine stopped working. I can't even open it and its driving me nuts. However I also am unable to open Notepad either which is annoying. I don't want to lose all my programs if I have to reload windows again, so how do I fix my PAINT program? I have tried downloading other fix's but none seem to help. Any ideas would be welcome at this stage.

Uninstall it through the control panel add/remove programs. Once it is uninstalled, reinstall it.
