No it is not. I own a desktop elite and a desktop pro. I prefer the pro to the elite because I just can't seem to go back to a straight keyboard. I have gotten used to the split style. I have noticed that with both keyboards I get a lot of interference with the signal. I constantly have to adjust the position of the receiver. Curiously my paper shredder renders my keyboard and mouse inoperable when it is in use. I guess it is some sort of frequency issue. I also own a logitec keyboard and mouse which I use on my widescreen TV + media computer. It works from a 15 foot distance with no problems at all, no interference and I haven't replaced the batteries in months. I can't say that about my Microsoft keyboards. They only seem to have a max range of about 5 feet and they eat batteries like candy. For the price I expected mush better. Good luck with yours.
Anyone know if the palm rest on the Microsoft Optical Desktop Elite is detachable?
