Microsoft One Note on Mac OS 10

Dec 31, 2007 12:20AM PST

I have a client who has been running Microsoft One Note on his Tablet PC for years and really likes it. The employer is switching over to all Macintosh. We are trying to find a solution. Is there a program similar to one note for Mac? Or is there a way for us to reliably run Microsoft Office on the Mac? What are you thoughts?

"reliably run Microsoft Office on the Mac?"

To me this seems a strange question. I found MS Office on the Mac (the Mac version) to have less issues. Was there something I misunderstood?

Can I just run microsft one note on the mac?

Is there a special version of Microsoft One Note I need to buy to run on the Mac?

If I run microsoft one note on Mac will it be reliable?

These are the types of questions I am considering. I have no experience with MAC.

thanks,

"Can I just run microsft one note on the mac?"

No. You could try by installing Bootcamp and Windows, but then you may as well get a PC. You can also investigate PARALLELS for the Mac.

"Is there a special version of Microsoft One Note I need to buy to run on the Mac?"

Read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_OneNote#Platform_support

"If I run microsoft one note on Mac will it be reliable?"

No. It will be just as reliable as one the PC since you would have to run Windows.

It's not hard to use the Mac. You'll do great.

One Note

There are rumors that One Note will be included in the upcoming release of Office 2008 for Mac, problem is, they are only rumors.

Meanwhile, there are a number of other programs that "may" be a decent alternative;

Circus Ponies Notebook, Aqua Minds Notetaker, OmniOutliner, Hog Bay Mori, Tinderbox, Voodoopad, DevonThink, Yojimbo, and SOHO Notes.

OmniOutliner is included with a new Mac.

Of course, the really last resort would be to run Windows in a Virtual Machine on the Mac using Parallels or Fusion and run the Windows version of Office. Of course, that may well negate the purpose of the switch from Windows to Mac.

Thanks alot for all the responses. I think I have a good grasp of the situation. I am going to study how my client uses One Note and look at some of these other programs that were recomended.

I think they really should have included One Note in the latest Microsoft Office for mac. I see so many people using it around the campus and it seems really helpful.
