microsoft office word 2000 installed with ME on Gateway syst

by smoocher / June 12, 2005 1:44 PM PDT

My Word 2000 will not boot up when I click on the "W" icon. The hourglass appears, but nothing else.

On earlier attempts, a message appeared stating tnat there was not enough free space. My three year old Gateway system has 40 GB of hard drive, and 512 of RAM. That's all of the technical jargon I know. I am forever a novice.

Can anyone tell me how to get Word 2000 to boot up?

Thanks, Jim VS in CO

Try the Word cure all. Delete Normal.dot.

Word will create a new one the next time Word runs. I can not answer why this bug was never fixed.

Word "cure all"?
by smoocher / June 13, 2005 1:29 PM PDT

Where can I type "delete normal.dot"? to fix the failure of Word 2000 to boot up when the "W" is clicked. My computer just freezes as soon as the Word message appears on the monitor screen. CTRL/ALT/DELETE allows me to access all other programs. Thanks R. Proffitt and to any other who can help! Jim VS Colo Sprngs, CO

Use Search files and folders in the Start menu to search for NORMAL.DOT
