Microsoft Office wont allow me to browse for folder.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Something has happened to my laptop that I am no longer able to browse for file using Office 2003, Visio 2003 or Project 2003.

When I attempted to open a file or save a file using Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, or even Project I won?t be able to click on the drop down to change the destination from My Document to something else. The application will appear busy, the hour glass spinning and when I check for the Task list, it shows that the application is not responding however; if I let it sit for about a minute or so, the not responding go away, the application will come alive again but if I hit the drop down button once more, the whole thing start all over again.

I am able to browse for file or location using the shortcut bar on the left hand side of the windows by click on My Computer and choose my destination.

What is weird about this is it only occurs in MS Office, Visio, and Project. All other applications will work just fine.

My laptop is very clean and do not have any spyware. I have uninstalled, reinstall office. Ran Detect and Repair and also applied all latest patches from Microsoft but that didn?t help.

Please help.

Post your HIJACKTHIS log (google.com) so I can see how clean it is.

Also, since you have the 500 buck Office package, there are a few free calls included in the support. Can you use one of those?

Mapped shares, that is it

Kees:

Thank you for your help. The mapped network drive was the cause. I had it mapped but never use it. It is showing a Red X on it so I right click and select disconnect. Now, everything speed up.

Thanks again
