Microsoft Office Professional Trial Version?

Feb 10, 2011 8:20PM PST

I paid for the full version of Microsoft Office 2010 Home and Business that came pre-installed with my new Dell. By accident, when opening File/Help in Word, I came across a window letting me know my trial MS Office Professional had expired, along with instructions on how to uninstall the trial version.

Anyone know what that is all about?

The instructions say regardless of which version of Office I have installed, the MS Office Professional version would appear beside the licensing options box.

If it came preinstalled, that may happen.

In the documents that came with the Dell, there should be information on the Microsoft Office software and a license key. IMHO Dell did not actually input the key and left that task for you. Check out the documentation or call Dell support.

Called Dell's XPS tech support and problem is all fixed. When MS Office Home and Business was activated, the key had to have been used otherwise, it would not have been activated....so all is well there.

It seems that when Microsoft is pre-installed, MS Office Professional is used for the install. The uninstall message I received is to remove any products that MS Office Home and Business does not include.....in my case, I had to remove MS Access because it is not included with Home and Business. What a crazy way to do busines!!!!

In 1998 and 2002, I received MS Office software with my Dell computers in the event reinstall was needed. No more more.....if needed, it has to be downloaded from MS.

Appreciate your reply.....miki
