Microsoft Office: Mac 2008 Service Pack 2 (SP2) Issues

There seem to be an awful lot of issues surrounding the latest Service Pack 2 update to Microsoft Office: Mac 2008. Everything from the product key not being recognized to Open XML files not being able to, well, open.

Is anyone else experiencing these issues?

Does anyone have any fixes or workarounds?

Office for Mac 2008 service pack 2, 12.2 update problem

Having problems since upgrading Office. Product key is not being recognized. It's a legitimate key by the way.
