Microsoft Office 2000 Small Business :: Transfer License

Apr 25, 2005 11:42AM PDT

I have an older computer with Office 2000 Small Business. Now, I plan to buy a new computer running XP and want to know if I can transfer my Office 2000 License to XP. On Microsoft's webpage they say to look at the terms of my license agreement, however I cannot find these. Does anyone know where I can find them?
Thank You

If you have the full retail version and not some OEM...

All you need is the media, the CD-KEY and you can uninstall it on one, install it on the other and not talk to anyone.

...when I bought the computer, however, do I not have to activate it if I install it on a new computer? Microsoft is of no help Sad

This it's up in the air. I can't help either.

If you don't have the media, then it's the OEM version and you only have rights to run it on the machine it came on. It's how they dropped the price.

If you have the install CD that is labeled "Office (whatever)" and your CD-Key, then you uninstall it and reinstall it.

Very simple.

I wish I could help you, but you didn't reveal if you had the needed pieces to make the move.

I have the install CD

I have the install CD for Office 2000, it came with my computer. It says at the top "For distribution with a new PC only." I'm sorry for not saying that I had the CD. I think I will just try it and see if it works. Thanks a lot!

That should be fine. .

But you didn't tell if you had the CD-KEY. That's the only other part you need. If you have it, no call is needed.
