Question

Microsoft Natural Pro Keyboard - Membrane Fried?

May 13, 2017 10:05AM PDT

Hi - I recently accidentally sprayed some coke (the drinking stuff!) onto part of my MS keyboard.
Result = A completely random deluge of characters output, just by pressing 1 key. All other keys do similar It is a USB board, and I think I might have fried one of the connecting electronic membranes - Will try to attach a pic / link for anyone who might be able to advise on this.
Thanks

Anyone viewed photos?

Hi - Thanks for that, I had found that webpage, with a bunch of others - Just none of them actually show the same connecting membranes as they are slightly different to the Natural Keyboard Pro - Am pretty sure that the cleaning I'm doing isn't going to fix the problem. If not then it's a hunt for the best price on a MS Comfort 4000, which appears to be the closest replacement - Only found mine still being sold s/h on Amazon US - Horrendous shipping charges etc = not worth it.

In the meantime, just out of curiosity as much as anything else if anyone with a better knowledge of electronics has a look at the pics - esp enlarged images, there are marks - Which can't be cleaned - Am guessing cos they are burnt out "tracks"

Cheers Jon

That once you take apart one, the next is eerily same or there's nothing interesting to see.

As to the marks, the tracks are just screen printed on so there's not much material and an acidic solution will break it. I have yet to see anyone repair this part. And as to spare parts the problem is the cost of stocking, shipping and more means that a keyboard unit is cheaper than the part.

Shop around at suppliers for your area.
You might find a nice keyboard at a reasonable price.

Try a wipe down with 90% iso, other wise fixing keyboards is not cost effective.
