Question

Microsoft Lifechat LX-3000 sound problem

Aug 27, 2015 11:13AM PDT

Hi !

I recently build a new computer. I installed Windows 8.1 and I bought a Microsoft Lifechat LX-3000 as my headset/mic.

The problem is that when I turn the volume down to 0, there is still sound coming out of the headset and it's almost as loud as when the volume is at 100.

I always have to adjust my sound with the sound control panel (I use Windows in french I don't know how you call it in english), and when I'm gaming, it's really annoying to go back to Windows just to adjust my sound.

I've seen people having the same problem but I've never found an answer. Hope you guys will help me.

Have a good day!

Answer
I remember this one to use volume controls on the 3000.

The remote works

The volume controls on the headset's remote work. My problem is that when I turn the volume up or down, it doesn't raise the volume by a lot when I'm at 100 and it doesn't mute the sound when I'm at 0.

Basically, my headset volume is almost useless, I have to adjust the volume of every application individually which is a huge pain in the ***!

Which is why...

When I shop headsets I look for volume control wheels over the push buttons.

Not to leave you without any exit.

Look up AUTOIT and AUTOHOTKEY to automate what you are doing.

Thanks but...

It's not working.

As I said, the problem is that when I turn the volume down (with the headset's remote or my keyboard or the sound control panel) the sound in the headset doesn't mute. When I check the sound control panel, all the "arrows" are on 0 but there's still sound.

For example, I'm watching a video on Youtube. The video is too loud, I turn the volume down, my headset sound is at 0 but the sound of the video is still destroying my ears. When I check the Google Chrome volume on the sound control panel, it's on 0 but there's still sound. I have to adjust Chrome volume on the control panel to lower the sound.

I have to do that everytime I open Chrome or a game.

Sounds like a product defect.

If the volume down does that, I'd return it for refund.
