Lost my HP computer only two years old to the blue screen of death.
Some of my files were saved, some not. My question is there a free site that I can download Word Pad.

....is to boot to an alternate system which can grab all those files and has a good text editor in it.

Download Linux Mint MATE 17 and burn to a DVD and boot from it, or burn the image to a USB flashdrive and boot from it.

Using the LIVE version, even without installing, will allow you to find and copy off all the files you want to save from the drive. It has Libre Office and a standard Text editor in it.

You can copy wordpad.exe from any Windows PC. Copy it to the same location in your PC.

Things I wonder:
- A blue screen usually doesn't mean you lose the PC. Rebooting usually helps, unless it needs some repair or reloading Windows.
- What's the use of Wordpad on a machine that died?
