Microsoft Force Feedback Joystick question

Feb 19, 2004 10:49AM PST

I have the force feedback joystick and it works as a joystick only..... The light on the joystick blinks and if I remember correctly it has to be solid.... What can the problem be? Power supply is in but whether I leave it in or take it out the light still blinks.......

Help!!!

The drivers must be installed for the OS and some older models fell off the upgrade path to the newer OSes. There were a handful of these things...

I am using XP pro and it recognized the stick with no problem... If I do need the drivers where can I get them? I searched the microsoft site but they only talk about 95 and 98 drivers.

I had the same problem (XP pro) with a Sidewinder Force feedback Wheel: No feedback force while playing.
Trying to find the solution, I read somewhere that some updates designed for W98 can work fine in XP, but don't work in W2K. Then I downloaded the update Microsoft has for W95 & 98, installed and got the force and new functions too.

Just repeating it.

Some models had people get upset since no drivers showed up for Windows 2000/XP or beyond.

I'd look for you, but there are a number of this models and I can't tell what you have. It sounds like one of the "forgotten."

Well I think we are all hosed by Microsoft......
Feb 20, 2004 11:23AM PST

I did loads of reading.. It seems that MICROSOFT hosed all of use who spent $$$$ on those joysticks and now can't use them.... To be even better when you try to email them to tell them this the email is disconnected...... Go figure...... Now we understand why some people pirate software.... You spend big money on their products only to get ripped off......

I didn't think so.

I got some 3 years out of it, and it still worked in a reduced fashion.

Couldn't say that for the actual PC. I get about 2 or 3 years between upgrades.

I have the same problem!

Unhappily, I have both the joystick and the wheel! Like you, my WinXP Home recognizes the stick but says disconnected. I've been unable to download the v3.2 update drivers and my CD of v3.0 wont load at all. It just says, "error creating process <setup\.SETUP.EXE>. The system cannot find the file specified." When I em'd MS they replied to call 866-834-8317. I haven't tried it yet but if I get any useful info, I'll post it.
