Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint

Norton Antivirus 2003

I posted this query on the Microsoft Office forum a week ago but had no response - perhaps there is a Powerpoint whiz out there who may be able to help, so here goes.

Created a slide show presentation with Powerpoint using charts from an Excel file. I copied the charts as links so that they would be updated as the data changed. When I open Powerpoint and open the presentation, I am given an option to update the links before the slide show starts , just as it should be. I then created a link in the Excel file pointing to the Powerpoint presentation. The presentation loads OK when I click on the hyperlink but but I do not get the option to update the links. I am very new to Powerpoint and would appreciate advice on what I can do to force an update of the links when the presentation is opened using the Excel hyperlink

If you created a second link to that Excel file, it means that you have updated the data in that file. Perhaps you have to repharse your question a bit for easy understanding. Which version of Excel and Powerpoint ?

"I then created a link in the Excel file pointing to the Powerpoint presentation. The presentation loads OK when I click on the hyperlink but but I do not get the option to update the links. "

I read this a few times and for some odd reason, create a link from Excel to the PowerPoint just seems to me that the link would not be updated when you load PP. Maybe if you loaded Excel?, but not PP.

As this is how it is, why not go with what works?

Thanks for the replies - will forget about the hyperlink and access the presentations directly from Powerpoint. Papa, version is Office XP 2002.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
