Microsoft AntiSpyware Update Problem

Dec 9, 2005 9:46PM PST

Is anyone else having any problems trying to update the Microsoft AntiSpyware definitions? I keep getting an error "Cannot connect to Internet" even though I am connected and having no other problems with any sites. Never had this problem in the past.

I have the current ones and I'm getting the same message as you are Tufenuf. They must be having a problem on one of their servers and it MAY not affect everybody but at least you know that you aren';t the only one. I have also never seen that error with MSAS either. I've had it before with SpywareBlaster when Javacool was updating his server but never with MSAS.

if you have symantac(norton) security , remember you should only run one firewall, and even though norton will say otherwise, the folks at microsoft have told me there is a confliction problem with xp serv. pk 2 .I installed norton and had the problems you have been speaking of and norton and dell just ran me round in circles, i used nortons removal tool and it removed program and important root file which left me dead in water, talked to micrsoft tech and we did reinstall of missing file, and got system running, but now just use aol security suite and norton folks just act like everything is fine. So I'm out the money for the norton crap and the microsoft fees........really nice. norton and dell....real nice money makin dog and ponie show, the morons at dell, said it was a virus and wanted 2-300 bucks for virus help........what a scam. the Dell tech morons have one or two little ideas and then it's ...well you gotta do a system wipe and complete reinstall, or IT's A virus!!! open up that wallet and let us help ya out some more. Habibe and the forty thieves,.........tennis anyone?.............let's do lunch...............

Haven't been able to update for a couple months. But just checked the definitions and they were updated Dec 12, 2005 at 8:55:54 AM to version 5783. And indicates that definitions are currently up to date. I guess it auto updated when I wasn't looking.

Caktus.. only as a FYI. As of yesterday MSAS had

updated from #5783 to #5785. If you're using the automatic updater, perhaps it takes a day or two longer to receive the updates. Maybe these too will also 'update when you're not looking'. Wink (Only giving you a ''heads up'', so you'll know to expect it.)
