Microphone driver help

Dell inspiron 1521 Laptop


My system was made with xp and after upgrading to win7 the built in Microphone will not work .I have tried to down load new driver on Dell site but it only gives me an option with original xp system . How do I get the correct driver for win 7?

1. Contact Dell customer support for advice.
2. See if you can find out what audio devices are installed and download directly from the makers site.
3. See if an external microphone (for example in a headset) works.

That the machine never had drivers past Windows XP. Ask Dell and hit the Dell forums (Dell has their own) as well as google to see if anyone found drivers.

as shown in Device Manager? Sometimes if you know the actual maker of the device instead of company who sells the entire computer, you can find drivers on related products by the same microphone maker.

Originally codenamed "RS690T", the chipset is for mobile platform only. Featuring an optional 16-bit DDR2 side-port memory with maximum 128 MiB [Cool capacity as local frame buffer. Sources revealed that the RS690T chipset may pair with SB700 southbridge and named as the "trevally" platform focusing the mobile market.[10] It is worth to note that the RS690T chipset has been added to AMD "longevity programme", that is AMD committed to supply the chipset for at least five years after general availability.[11] However, currently, M690T chipset was coupled with SB600 southbridge.[Cool The chipset was officially referred as "M690T chipset with Radeon X1270 graphics".[12]

These are supposed to be the W7 drivers for the AMD chip on that motherboard.
