Question

Micro-USB connectors

Oct 24, 2013 3:22AM PDT

There seems to be at least two micro-usb connectors.
Types:
(1) Standard type: rectangular shape with two bottom corners cut off (front view)
(2) Another type: rectangular shape with only one bottom corner cut off (front view).
________ _______
\_______/ L_____/

My HTC Droid-Eris phone has the type 2 above for charging and/or connecting to pc usb port.
designation? It's cable has type 1 on one end and type 2 on the other end?
It is not a mini usb connector
Who makes such a cable? Adaptors?
Thanks

Answer
I think most big box electronics stores will have them

I bought a micro USB connector at Micro Center, and I've seen them at Frys as well. I believe my mini USB connector came with my Canon camera. I imagine Best Buy, Office Depot, Office Max, Amazon, and others would likely have them too. Check out their web sites.

Good luck.

I don't find it specified anywhere

There are no specifications on this connector. It's not a mini-usb. I will try online to find it. A last resort is to visit big-box stores.
Thanks

If you use google you can find micro-usb and mini-usb is widely noted such as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB

But I fear some loathe using Wikipedia or Google today. I can't tell why.

I have my solution. The cable for my Moto DroidX is usb to microusb. The cable for the HTC Eris is a ExtUsb to usb.

HTC ExtUSB™ is 11-pin USB connector used on older HTC phones.

And to make matters more fun

My Asus Transformer uses ... some Asus cable which has no standard. Samsung did that too.

You bet I wish they stuck to standards.
