Micro SD card stopped being recognized by computer and cell

Sep 9, 2010 11:47AM PDT

Not sure if this should go under Cell or Storage Forum but gonna try here. My wife has a Sandisk 2gb that she has been using in here Samsung Cell phone. It was bought brand new a few months ago and has worked fine in the cell and when stuff has been added/deleted/transferred to our home computer or our laptop. A few days ago it just said no SD card in her cell. She plugged it into both computers, and they acknowledge the adapter being plugged in but nothing happens when you click on the drive, it just says "This request could not be performed due because of an I/O device error". I put it in my cell and it's as though it's not there. She has pics and video from her cell from some family trips and stuff on the card and would like to save them if possible.

Anyone have a clue what maybe going on or is there any software to help recover the data?? If it's something that's going to cost a ton to save a few pics of the family then we may not worry about it but if we can save them or if it's something that may be fixed like trying to formatting it or something..?

Just looking for some help, thanks!!

MFG is saying they will send out a new card when I send this one back but the only thing will do is refer me to a company called LC Technologies to recover the data....for $75. The stuff on the card wasn't worth $75, I was hoping to find a much cheaper way to recover it but doesn't seem like we will. Thanks for the help though!
