I just got a Galaxy S9 and want to connect it to my 55" Samsung TV (UN55J6201). However to my horror my TV isn't apparently MHL compatible. Come to find out from this article that's fine.,news-18345.html
Anyways the article is a little confusing and vague on the part of if you don't have a MHL ready tv. Basically do I need 2 seat of cables? An MHL-HDMI adapter, and a USB-c to HDMI?

not that easy

I wish it was that easy, as I stated my tv is not MHL enabled. yes my S9 is however, my UN55J6201 is not.

From memory

The phone has to have MHL, not the TV. This converts from your phone to HDMI.

Just call 1800SAMSUNG to confirm.
