MGI Photosuite distorting images - please help!

I'm having a lot of trouble with this.

When I open a photo into Photosuite 8.0 (using Windows Vista) the image is elongated, then when I rotate it, it's squashed. Playing with the sizing options doesn't seem to help anything. I'm sure it's something very simple but I can't figure it out.

I also recall this distortion happening when we used Xp so i don't think that's a factor (although it said the Help feature is not available in Vista!)

I do not have this product and found no online manual so all I can offer is I would look for a "maintain aspect ratio" or similar checkbox.

Thanks for the response! We figured out the problem was actually the monitor settings. The monitor is new and very wide - and for some reason everything looked pretty normal except for the photos.
