Message appears on screen after updating SAS

Feb 27, 2015 6:10PM PST

Earlier this week after updating my free version of SuperAntiSpyware; ( Version 6.0.1170 ) this message appeared on the screen and I couldn't make it disappear. The only way I could make it disappear was to shut down my computer then power back up.

The message:

C:\Windows\system32\MSHTML.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.

After doing a shut down and powering back up I went to Control Panel > Programs > Add or remove programs > attempted to uninstall my current version of SAS but I couldn't. Right now I cannot uninstall anything. I can start the process but nothing happens.

My computer is a Dell Vostro 1510 laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit; besides the free version of SAS I also have Avast AV free version [ #2015.10.0.2208 ]. What do I need to do to make this image go away for good?

As to the question I learned long ago to uninstall and reinstall apps that fail to update. This year I use Ninite.com to install such things.

Good luck!
