General discussion

memory sticks and extended warranty

Mar 5, 2006 12:20AM PST

I have a couple questions about digital cameras. I have a Sony DSC-V1.

How often should you replace memory sticks? How do you know when they need to be replaced?

I have an extended warranty on my digital camera. Including in the warranty is free cleaning. Should I take advantage of this or is it just pointless?

Thank you for all your help!

Memory Sticks

Generaly, memory sticks should last you a long time before replacement is needed and there is really no rule of thumb on when to replace it. I've seen them go bad so to minimize risk, instead of having one large capacity media, I use several 128mb sticks so I dont lose all of them on one shot. There is really no "internal cleaning" on digital cameras so bring it for cleaning does not help.
