Memory card good for...

Mar 17, 2005 3:49AM PST

This is an extremely basic question, but I guess I'm just not getting it...

I have a Tungsten T that I bought a couple of years ago for school. It says it has 16 MB of RAM memory. I have applications like a dictionary, drug reference, calculators, and consult programs, and they have eaten up the memory. I have 3 or 4 word, excel docs on there, and no pics or MP3's (mostly b/c there is no space for them).
I bought a 512 SD card, but as I understand, I can't put things like applications, calculators and stuff on it. Some of the things i have bought say, "Memory card supported," but when I install them, I notice that it's installed on the memory card AND the handheld memory. What exactly can I save on the card to free up memory? Or do I just need to get a new palm with a bigger memory?

I liked pocket PC because you could do what ever you wanted to it. Including install directly to memory cards and run off them. The file manager was similar to windows and they usually have 4x the memory.

Check out a Pocket pc.

so no card apps off of palm?

So...you're saying that I can't do that on Palm? I have looked at the pocket PC, but I can't b/c my hospital software is only Palm OS supported. Does anyone know why I can select the card during installation, yet it is also installed in the regular memory? Or do I need a new Palm with new RAM?

I do this all the time.

But depending on the Palm unit, it may need a helper app such as I listed.
