Here's why. The picture is being compressed by some small computer chip in the camera. The write speed is only one part of the picture to picture delay. Focus, compression, storage and possibly other steps work to set what number of pictures you can take per second.
Reviews at cnet.com but more so at http://www.dpreview.com do note picture to picture times. I have both the Kodak dx6490 and dx7590 and like it's burst mode where you press and hold the button to get a series of snaps as fast as it can go.

Hello,
I am currently in Iraq and am going to get a digtial camera. At the PX here, they have the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T7 Digital Camera. I've been reading reviews and so far it seems like a fairly decent camera, and plenty for the casual photographer that I am.
My only nit-picking detail is the speed at which I can take pictures. I would like to be able to take pictures at a fairly fast rate. The ideal would be just to keep hitting the button, but I know this isn't realisitic without getting a professional quality camera.
So it comes to Memory write speed, to my understanding. The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T7 Digital Camera takes Memory Stick PRO Duo memory. My question is this: What should I look for when buying the fastest possible of this type of memory? Which brand? What is the fastest write speed I can get for the Pro Duo?
Thanx for any help,
Much appreciated.
