Question

Memory

My son has a laptop that has 918GB on the C drive. He has used almost 790GB for gaming, recordings, and other stuff, mostly gaming. He has 8GB of memory, he wants to upgrade but what do I upgrade? Can someone please advise.

Laptop

What is this laptop?...... make and model

Many laptops will only accept one disk and one stick of ram.

Why does he want to upgrade?
Is something broke?

He has Dell - Alienware 15 R2. He does a lot recording of his games and he said it's taking up a lot of his hard drive space. I believe that's what he said. He wants me to buy another 8gig memory stick for the laptop. I'm thinking that would not help. Could you please advise

Memory

Memory/ram and storage space are 2 different things.

If the problem is low storage/disk space then adding ram won't help.

If you want to go to 16GB of ram look here.

It won't hurt anything but if your not using all the 8GB then it won't help much.

RAM's not needed, you are correct

What he really needs is an external hard drive to save his games to.
