has started to display prominently in a small veteran's park individual white crosses and stars of david. they paint the name and branch of service for those who have given their lives in war. rank is not shown nor do they care where the person was born. there is a $5 donation, which is good forever. of course further donations are accepted but not necessary. local vets place the crosses or stars of david in a grid reminiscent of arlington. they remain for 10 days. the permanent monument remains at our main intersection. it is on a sweeping lawn on the grounds of a 19th century church. I am sure other places have similar memorials. if your home town does not, I hope others will do what are local vets are doing.

next week I am taking my mother to see the cross for her brother kia wwII. it will be a bittersweet surprise. I will have plenty of hankies standing by.

...truly like a breath of fresh air on this forum and to those of us who served in the Armed Forces of the United States of America. And I absolutely despise those that trash our country and our President.

Though it can be applied to fit many things, there is one line in that song that gears it towards Memorial Day than anything else:

"I won't forget the men who died that gave that right to me",which is what this weekend is all about.
