Question

Meego: How do you run it from USB and see it on a network?

Apr 30, 2011 2:33PM PDT

I wanted to know if anyone has tried the Meego distribution on a USB drive and can see and or identify there network. I can get Meego to a regular wired connection but no wireless connection is working or can be detected for my netbook. I think that my netbook is not compatible with Meego, but so far I have been running Meego from USB but I am not able to get it to network with the other computers. Does anyone have any suggestions. In addition, when I try to acquire the updates for Meego the netbook freezes. If anyone wants to know what Meego distribution looks like go to http://www.meego.com.

Simple way would be try other Meego derivatives like: Smeegol Linux
Also you can provide info about your card. Paste this command into terminal:
lspci | grep Wireless
It will show info about your Wireless card. Copy paste result of that command here.

Smeegol Linux: Are there any issues with wireless drivers?
May 1, 2011 6:28AM PDT

Thanks, I will test this and see if this would work instead of Meego. In addition you should have provided the download link, I had to find it the SUSE gallery and I hope this works better then then Meego 1.1. I will let you know if this worked better for me. I will be placing this on USB so I hope that this Smegol Linux distro is able to help me connect to my network.

Smeegol Linux issues with USB
May 9, 2011 1:02PM PDT

For some reason the live USB for Smeegol Linux freezes, it seems like there is no updates on this distribution either. I switched to Ubuntu 11.04 and so far its working fine just sucks I can't save anything to USB because its live. Is there something I may not be doing right?

Smeegol Linux review
May 16, 2011 6:14AM PDT

I have tried Smeegol Linux on USB and had a terrible experience with it. It continues to freeze at boot so I just reformated my USB to Ubuntu Netbook Remix and have been happier ever since. The live USB will not allow you to save programs or files (unless someone knows something I don't now) I used a Gateway Netbook to try out Smeegol Linux with a wired connection, the wireless connection was not working with the Gateway Netbook. So again, what would be the best Linux distro for the USB for any computer to include AMD 64 and Intel platforms.
