Sorry but with such slim information (no mention of OS Service Packs, etc.) I'll just share the usual.
1. Windows Update and all critical updates.
2. After step 1, uninall the firewall, try again.
3. Find and run WINSOCKFIX, try again.
4. Mcafee's privacy filter was known to interfere, but it's not in your list of software installed.
Best of luck.

I cannot play video files over my internet connection using my Windows 2000 machine and Windows Mediaplayer 9. When I click on a video file (as on MSNBC or CNN) the mediaplayer window will open and then I get a quick grey flash and then....nothing. On other sites it appears that buffering occurs, then a stop, then buffering again...over and over.
I can play these same files using a Windows XP laptop and mediaplayer 10 on the same internet connection so access speed should not be the issue. The sites say that video has been optimised for mediaplayer 9.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Mediaplayer 9. I have updated Directx drivers installed. The Microsoft FAQs do not seem to address this problem other than pointing to access speed, and that is not the issue. Any ideas? Thanks
