Question

Media Room/whole house entertainment system

Sep 4, 2016 5:12PM PDT

hi

Buying new home. I want to set up a 7.2.2 system in the media room. I can spend up to 1000k for the receiver. I already have the necessary speakers. The ceiling is pre wired for placement of two speakers. Suggestions?

You can first peruse through some of the previous posts similar to yours. There's so much detail to go over, you might as well start there vs re-hashing it all here.

What Bob said is correct. Skip the in ceiling for the 7.2.2 media space. Those in ceiling speakers are better for a separate zone/room where you simply need a basic stereo audio feed (party, kitchen, etc.). FWIW, I'm going to add another zone next weekend in my own home Wink

I've seen whole house stereo but you do run into that old stadium issue. Audio delays even inside a home could make a mess.

I'd tackled each on its own. Nobody so far uses the ceiling as in in ceiling speakers. I'll guess you'll get some ceiling mount for your full size speaker set.

Not one of the 7.2 receivers at https://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/electronics/3213035011/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_e_1_3_last in the top 20 are over 1K so you are good to go.

Also, CNET at http://www.cnet.com/topics/av-receivers/best-av-receivers/ doesn't break the 1K mark. For the house I'd consider another receiver (network, etc.) or talk to the seller and maker about number of zones.
