Media player toolbar in XP 64 bit?

by theboykidney / October 16, 2007 8:25 PM PDT

Howdy,

I have been trying for ages to get the media player toolbar to work in win XP 64 bit, but it just isn't happening.

When I right click on the taskbar and look at toolbars, the media player toolbar is not listed.

I have tried unistalling and making sure I have the 64 bit player, but Im not sure I have it, or if it would even make a difference...

Any pointers or tips?

Cheers,

TBK

Some things just won't work
by Jimmy Greystone / October 17, 2007 2:43 AM PDT

Some things just won't work the same in the 64-bit version of XP as they do in the 32-bit version. Microsoft never intended the 64-bit version of XP to be used as a desktop OS, so some things may not work the same, some may not work as well, and others may not work at all. It's a fact of life you'll just have to get used to if you want to keep using the 64-bit XP.

32 bit taskbar

Yes you cannot use the Windows Media Player toolbar in the 64 bit taskbar. But here is a temporary solution to this.

- Run Task Manager (Taskmgr.exe)
- switch to tab Processes
- find explorer.exe
- press End Process
- menu File->New task (Run)
- enter %systemroot%\syswow64\explorer
And you are running 32-bit explorer

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
