Media Center has stopped working

May 25, 2007 10:58AM PDT

My Media Center doesn't open. I've checked the problem reports and solutions on Vista and so far it has no solution for this problem. I'm posting the details, so if anyone could help me I'd appreciate. Thanks.

Have You??
May 25, 2007 12:21PM PDT

Visited the computer manufacturer's website and checked for updated video and audio drivers? If not, please do.. If nothing new is at the computer manufacturer's site, please check the video and audio card provider's site.. New drivers are coming out frequently for Vista and it's always worth a check.

Another thought also... Because of the "Problem Signature 09: System.UnauthorizedAccess" listing, please find the Media Center icon in your start menu, RIGHT click on it, select "run as Administrator". See if that helps.

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much, Grif Thomas

I've selected "run as Administrator" and it worked. Media Center opened, but another error occured. I've checked the Device Manager to see if anything needed to be updated (video/audio) as you recommended and the only thing that I've found wrong is one of my network adapters has a problem (Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)), but I don't think this has anything to do with Media Center issue, right? Following the new error on Media Center and once again thank you very much for your help.

Device Manager Won't Tell You A New Driver Is Needed
May 25, 2007 1:40PM PDT

..Check for updated drivers anyway.. Device Manager will frequently say that everything's working correctly even when it's not..

But the network adapter problem could indeed be the culprit in the new error message. Media Center's "Media Center Extensibility Host" used the network to allow certain applications to work correctly.. If the adapter isn't functioning as it should, the "Ehexthost.exe" error could be the result.. As before, check the manufacturer's site for updated drivers for your network adapter both ethernet and wireless, if you have one... Installing the adapter driver might p

Hard to find Updates? or not sure of what you need?
May 25, 2007 1:35PM PDT

I work with alot of older systems and updates are always hard to find
But! on c/net or download.com
i found a program called Radar Sync 2007
and no i dont work for either
but anyway its not a free program but it was like under $30
and what it does is auto scan your comp hardware and software as well and automaticly shows you every update you need for your comp
recently i picked up a freak comp somebody built so it has no name brand or model ,had gateway grafics and some hp hardware with a old 98 tv tunner and usealy by the time i get them the o/s is trash so when i upgraded it of corse all the old drivers were gone
well this program found every one for me and the new updated ones as well
so might help you as well
small download, free to try but if you need to download thats when the bag you
but for me it was worth it
