Me hard drive in XP machine

Oct 7, 2004 1:59PM PDT

I have an Me machine that will not boot from the hard drive. I can boot in DOS and copy files to floppies. I have a lot of .jpgs I would like to transfer. Can I install the Me hard drive in my XP machine and copy the files over (are the file systems compatible)?

Should work either way that the XP is formatted

NTFS or FAT 32. NTFS can read FAT 32, but not vice versa, and I would think that the ME drive is in FAT 32.

Thanks for the response. I was able to install the Me disk and recover almost all the files. Thanks again!

you can just remove your Me harddrive and install it to your XP machine as a slave mode. this is if you know how to do it correctly and if it's a EIDE Harddrive. Please remember to set teh jumper to slave. If you install it to the XP machine you will be pretty much set. All the files will be on that Me HD and you can just browse through it from My Computer.
