McCartney Set to Rock Beantown...Yeah sure.

Apr 19, 2005 7:46AM PDT

Thats a laugh. Hes going to rock Boston after Mick Jagger. Ha. I would'nt call "Sir Paul" a rocker. Never cared for him anyway.

Now the Rolling Stones at Fenway in Aug. Thats something I would like to see. Saw them when they came to the old Boston Garden in the 70's. Man, that was a show. I did'nt get home till sun-up.

BOSTON -- It looks like a mini-British musical invasion is shaping up for Boston later this year.

Former Beatle and Wings frontman Paul McCartney is booked for the TD Banknorth Garden in late September. Sir Paul will kick off a U.S. tour earlier that month in Miami.

Also scheduled in Boston for two dates in late summer are the Rolling Stones.

They'll take over the field at Fenway Park on Aug. 21 and 23.

Geezers!

I like Jagger and I like McCartney. But I wouldn't drive into Boston for all the tea in the harbor.

Really now.....

You familiar with Boston Ed. Its not that bad with our new tunnel system. Rather daring and moist but everybody makes it home eventually. But, I'm with you, I would'nt drive in there on a bet.

I lived in Boston and surrounding towns...

from Second Grade til HS graduation. But that was centuries ago. The place might as well be the moon to me now. I think I've been there three times in the last fifteen years, once to a Red Sox game and the other times going to Logan.

I feel much more comfortable in Manhattan.

I really like McCartney.

Never cared for the Rolling Stones. (Never saw anything at all attractive about Jagger.)

My daughter and her husband have been to both their concerts.

When Linda was still living, they appeared in Albuquerque, NM. The Stones were here in Nashville.

At least, fans will have a choice, whichever they prefer. Happy

You mentioned the Opry earlier. I went once, and I reckon it's like the difference in being at the ball park versus watching the game on TV- being there is better. Dottie West performed.

The Opry...
Apr 19, 2005 9:25AM PDT

We used to listen to the Opry back in 48, 49 etc. on Sat. nites on the car radio. That was our crusing nite and boy I can still hear the music and introductions like it was yesterday. Yep, I sure like the old time country music. Plus some rock stuff like the Stones, Eagles and such, but never could adjust to the Beatles in any kind of exciting way.

Old Folks Boogie, Little Feat: Last Record Album
Apr 19, 2005 9:09AM PDT

Off our rockers, actin' crazy
With the right medication we won't be lazy
Doin' the old folks boogie
Down on the farm
Wheelchairs, they was locked arm in arm
Paired off pacemakers with matchin' alarms
Gives us jus' one more chance
To spin one more yarn

And you know that you're over the hill
When your mind makes a promise that your body can't fill
Doin' the old folks boogie
And boogie we will
'Cause to us the thought's as good as a thrill

Ah, how true, how true.

Did you ever see McCartney?
Apr 19, 2005 7:34PM PDT

He's not one of my big favorites, but well worth to see live. I've had the privelege to see both Stones and McCartney and both are VERY good live. Unless you don't like the Beatles of course. But that would be "murder".

No, not live in concert Tibbs...
Apr 19, 2005 11:55PM PDT

I'm sure hes good on stage, live. I just never adapted to his style I guess, and can't see him being compared to the stones as a rocker. Maybe its because I remember him from the group and have'nt listen to him much as a solo.

Sun. morning there is a hour radio show on the Beatles, which I have been listening to lately just for the heck of it and find some of their music was pretty good at that.

Ticket prices were just too high. I don't know what the prices are for this tour yet.

Needless to say, I've seen him in concert several times, going back to 1976.
