Finally got it to work, I now have my McAfee SiteAdvisor back!!!!
I've had the free version of McAfee SiteAdvisor installed on both of my computers for a few years. This afternoon while updating Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Reader on my Dell laptop, after I did a restart and came back to the web my McAfee SiteAdvisor had disappeared. I then went to Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs to check to see if Site Advisor was still listed, it was not.
I then came back to CNET Downloads, located it as still being available, Version: 18.104.22.168 and attempted to download it and install it. I tried 10 times to do it, the Microsoft pop up appeared at the top of my screen everytime, I would click download, I trusted this site and I was able to download it but couldn't install it. When it came time to install it I was prompted to restart my computer to make sure it would install successfully which I attempted to do 10 times.
The SiteAdvisor software had a balloon located at the top of my webpages along with the color coded icons located at the end of each link when I do a search indicating if a link was safe to use, caution, or don't go there, those icons were also not there. What could be preventing me from being able to reinstall this software? My computer is a Dell Vostro 1510 laptop with Windows Vista Premium 32 bit OS, my browser is IE8. I don't feel comfortable surfing the web without my McAfee SiteAdvisor and would like to get it back.
