If you think it's using too much of such, try uninstalling everything McAfee from the Control panel (you may need to remove each separate McAfee item shown in the Programs and Features section of the Control Panel), then use the McAfee removal tool from the link below to remove all remnants.
Note: Clicking on the link below will immediately start the download dialogue box:
Once that's done, install something else, such as one of the free tools at the link below and use the Windows 7 firewall.
Avira (Currently among the best in detection rates, paid or free.)
If you like the results without McAfee, you have your answer.
Hope this helps.
I have a computer that shipped with McAfee Security Center preinstalled on it with Windows Vista. Along with that, I noticed alot of hard disk activity. I thought it was just Vista at first, but i recently upgraded to Windows 7 and the problem still occurs. I traced the problem to McAfee. Is it normal for McAfee to be taking up a lot of my system resources? BTW, I am running Windows 7 Home Premium on a fairly new PC with 3 GB of RAM. Also, when my subscription expires in September, do you recommend sticking with Mcafee or switching to something else? Thanks in advance for your input.
