Windows 98se is a great little OS but with those non-expandable 64 kilobyte memory pools it will error once in awhile when we load up the machine.
There are no plans to fix this issue, but given the age of the system most know it will crash after a few hours under such conditions. The memory pools gets too low due to all the programs (firewall, email, browsers and what else?) and you get an error.
No cure is planned. For 98se, you learn to not run too much at a time.

Ever since i installed McAfee Antivirus and Personal Firewall my internet connection has been playing up. Somwtimes when i'm connected to the net my PC will just shutdown and restart of it's own accord.
I've gone through my Hijack This log and can't see anything amiss. I've used ' scandisk ' in command-prompt-only mode and fixed a disk-space error. Uninstalled and re-installed McAfee and it still happens.
A couple of times i've received an error message saying the mpfbocks caused an error in ndiswan ( driver for my modem - Westell - i think )
When i install McAfee i've been watching the process and at some point it installs a file with the text " invoke shutdown : no prompt ". I've done a text search and this seems to be in a file called Killagent.exe that is attributed to McAfee Personal Firewall.
Trouble is i searched the net for info on the file and got nothing, naddah, zip.
1 ) Anyone know why this is happening ?
2 ) What is Killagent.exe and is it essential ?
Thanks.
