Alert

McAfee A/V on Android

Apr 9, 2017 7:06AM PDT

My neighbor came by yesterday to see if I could get his Motorola Droid working again..

The symptoms were
1. He could make one phone call but have to reboot to make another call
2. The phone was always running warm to hot .
3. The battery kept draining in a matter of an hour even when not using it

I hooked the phone to my comp via USB and was going to update but the phone was already up to date.
I started getting nosey and found that he had installed McAfee A/V and it not only kept running but didn't allow to make more than one call at a time than reboot and drained battery.

I uninstalled McAfee and the phone now runs as it should.
I told him that his phone (Android ) needs no antivirus and to keep his fingers off those and keep the phone as close to native as possible .

All's well that ends well , but this is just a reminder that anti virus programs keep running and sometimes have unwanted effects.

That's good! you have shared such experience, it sounds bit strange but this type of thing could also be possible in android.
It's a helpful information!
Thanks Happy
