harborbreeze,
I'm sorry to hear about this situation, particularly the amount of time a response has taken. I'm not sure why they would do that. To get a straight answer, you might call 800-SAMSUNG and ask to speak with the ECR Department.
It may be that they can't fix your particular unit, and are willing to upgrade you to the next series up. But these concerns should be brought to their attention so that they can address them with you.
The picture quality of both units are very similar, and you're not losing anything by getting upgraded to the next series.

To keep it short, I have a ln52a750 tv. It has the halo issue, but other than that, it has a great picture no clouding, no flashlighting, no other problems.
I contacted samsung about the halo issue wondering if it is a huge problem etc and was told someone would be out to look at it. 2 months went by, nobody showed, I figured no big deal and wasn't worried about it.
Samsung emails me and says there are no techs in my area and they are going to replace the tv with the ln52a850.
This is puzzling, why would they do that?
Is the picture quality as good as the 750 or am I going to take a chance with clouding, flashlighting etc?
I don't want to seem like a ingrate, but I don't want to exchange a small problem for a big one.
I'm confused.....
