Several days ago, my Maxtor 80GB External Hard-Drive began malfunctioning, and when I attempted to open it, error messages read "The Parameters are Incorrect" and "There is an I/O Error". I am trying to salvage a large collection of music I have on it. I have spent several days using a variety of programs, TestDisk, MSDOS chkdsk, PC Inspector File Recovery, GetDataBack by Runtime Software, but to no avail. I have only been able to recover a few gigabytes using PC Inspector, but that is no longer helping as well. If anyone could recommend any freeware programs or methods of saving this material, please do so. I am running on Windows XP with a Sony VAIO.
