Some antivirus and broke some things. Apple could not fix their machine either (different issue but a little similar.) Also, why must it auto-update? I have for years learned to work with software and manually press the update button if it has such.
That is, are you seeing a new generation of users that think all this stuff is bug free?

So, I've had this problem since mavericks first came out... Everything else works fine, and even Apple hasn't been able to solve this tedious problem. I have reinstalled OS X twice already and I've removed the plists of the App Store, to no avail though. All my preferences are checked and set to auto update, and even the plist file reflects that. Regardless, it still won't check, update, or install. So am I missing something here? The AppStore doesn't have to be running, correct? How often a day does it update? I've tried everything I know to do and it just won't work. I hope someone can help me out.
Thanks in advance!
