Question

Match system of a core i3 or core i5

Aug 24, 2016 1:53PM PDT

Hi
I just want to upgrade my old Pc and i think every part of my old pc damaged and it's too low and old. so it's better to say i just want to buy a new computer.
I wanted to ask that which parts of a medium system can be the best match for a Core i5 4460 (haswell) or even skylake one(which u suggest?)
most important thing is gaming for me.and i know i may cant play heavy games with this system.
So I have a stupid question: which part effects on smoothness of a game except CPU? graphic card? how much(by percent please)
I'll be grateful if u reply.

Answer
Let me share an old laptop.

It's a 2006 Dell Inspiron e1505 that I worked over. My son had it in college for years so I bumped the memory to 2GB and the HDD was gone so it got the 120GB SSD. That was 45 bucks in upgrades and I clean installed Windows 10.

It boots, gets on the web in under 35 seconds.

I'm sure your old PC is better than that.

Let's hear what you have and then let's look at that GPU and HDD. It may be good to go after some minor upgrades.

PS. If you are new to building, NEVER create a new PC.

but...
Aug 24, 2016 2:23PM PDT

but I think my old pc is a dead pc.
It's like 7 years ago and I just remember i was like a kid when my father bought that for me.I'm 17 now.
Anyway i will tell u anything i remember.
I'm using an acer laptop right now. and I remember i had to turn my pc on and off like 5 or 6 times and finally my pc loaded windows(like 2 years ago).
and I just remember that was a 512MB graphic card and 1024MB ram and i had problem that Everytime I turned the pc on,my time and clock reseted to like 2007 or 2008.
and i had 256GB storage ssd and what should i do with this old computer.

Sounds like my 2006 laptop.

I forgot that I had to put in a new battery too. The clock battery is one dollar here.

If the PC is dead, then recycle it responsibly. I think I'd recycle the optical drive and maybe the HDD as a data drive. 120GB SSD is so blazing fast for 35 bucks that only the newest builders skimp there.

Gaming
Aug 24, 2016 7:52PM PDT

If your old machine has the specs you mentioned I suspect it would be a dead end to try and upgrade it.

Based on how high up the gaming ladder you want to go and your budget what your looking for is.

Cpu.....high end I5.
Ram.....2x4GB in the proper slots for dual channel.
Video card....That's a tough call as nvidea and amd are just bringing out their new line up and supply and demand are out of wack.

Plan on getting two of them.

Maybe it will help the tracked threads e-mail function like it's supposed to.

how about this
Aug 25, 2016 12:34PM PDT

I think i can spend 500$ or 600$ for it.
I just don't know which of these specs will be able together and which are best to choose:
video card: which u suggest me? AMD or NVIDIA?
which is better :
ASUS R7 360 OC (amd) - MSI R7 250X 2GB - (amd)
ASUS GTX 750 Ti PH 2GB GDDR5 (a little more expensive) (nvidia)
Which motherboard u suggest :
GIGABYTE GA-H110M-S2HP
MSI H110M PRO-VD
ASUS H110-PLUS
GIGABYTE H81-D3
CPU : intel core i3 6100 ( i don't find any better than this with same price)
RAM:G.SKILL Aegis 4GBX2 2133MHz CL15
POWER: GREEN GP480A-ES
how are these?

Is this one of the PC Master Race Builds?
Aug 25, 2016 12:41PM PDT

The link I supplied has good gaming at that price range. If you are creating a new combination I find folk that did that often see their savings vanish as they battle either some integration issue or can't quite get the machine to install and perform.

Not master race builds.

The 750 you noted is a common goto card for gaming on the cheap, low power.

The CPU doesn't need to be highend for most games. Even the first gen i5 was noted to be able to drive a trio of GPUs at full tilt.

The motherboard is rarely a factor if ever (why did I bother to write that? Nope. It's never a factor!)

Memory just needs to be for that board and CPU. So you get good stuff, in pairs.

For the HDD I am on the verge of stopping purchases of HDDs. We can get a basic W10 install on 120GB SSD with 100GB free. That's 35USD of pure speed. For under 47 bucks we see 240GB (or larger.)

So i will get a ASUS R7 360 OC and core i3 6100
I may get ASUS GTX 950 STRIX 2GB or ASUS GeForce GTX 960 STRIX 4GB GDDR5 IF i could purchase more.
But i have question about monitor, can u help me please?
My old pc's monitor is an very old monitor(it's not wide and it's a big monitor XD) It's LG flatron ez T725B.
I even don't know which resolution will it support!
so i should buy a new monitor?
I want +21 inches monitor and gaming one (at least FULL HD resolution) and about 100$ price. (idk maybe like ASUS VS Series LED Full HD VS228N Monitor?
