''Mark All Read''

Aug 9, 2004 10:51PM PDT

Using this option is less than desirable.

Since a member sees a list of message on the forum tree of messages they have just gone through and may wish to mark as read, using this option not only marks the messages in the currently cached session as read but also any and all new messages and threads added to the forum but not in the members current cache.

I for one believe a member's input to a message should be immediately marked as read.

Re: "Mark All Read" located at the top right on the 1st page of a forum, under page #'s.

Agree, that "Mark All Read" was a big disappointment to me when I used it the 1st day.....everything was marked all read and had to start all over to get the right arrows.

Re your last sentence. Believe that has been fixed just now as I notice whenever I post and go back to the 1st page it shows 'read' (white) arrow.
Using WinXP home, IE6, haven't checked Win98se, or WinMe puters.

"I for one believe a member's input to a message should be immediately marked as read."

The system logic only knows to look for new posts and it doesn't differentiate your new post versus another person's new post. So it will flag it as new.

With that option I wanted to add a Mark all Unread, but

the software has it's limitation and that was not available.

I'm just going to leave it there for now as an option...people don't have to use if they don't want to.
