A very good response. I always told Robbie, or Rob as he

now is, that however bad today was, tomorrow would be better, and if tomorrow isn't better, the day after will be.

I have fought with depression since I was a child, and the only thing that has kept me alive is that thought: "Maybe tomorrow will be a little bit better." I am incredibly grateful for the availability of newly developed medication since our return from England because I don't think I'd have survived, particularly the break-up. But when I get hints of the downward spiral, I remind myself that things can look up, and the last thing in the world that I want to teach my son is giving in to despair.

In some ways I have been lucky in that my depression has developed into "Atypical Depression" which you can look up via Google, and which has significantly different symptomatology than regular depression. It is responsive to good news, and good things happening to one, and to positive personal interactions, which is why having friends is so important.
