Not sure this is the right forum, as I'm not sure whether the issue is with my Marantz CD player or my new DVD burner. In any case, all of sudden my home CD player (the above-mentioned Marantz CC4300) is unable to read CD-Rs burned with my new Lite-On DH-20A4P DVD burner (on my Dell Dimension 2400 running Windows XP with a Pentium 4 2.8 GHz processor and 512 MB RAM). Thinking it might have been a software issue, I tried burning CDs using both iTunes 8 and Nero 7, but neither were recognized by the Marantz. However, both CDs *were* recognized by my car CD player and my home DVD player (as well as the Lite-On drive). What's even more confusing is that the Marantz plays CD-Rs burned previous to the installation of my new drive just fine! Prior to installing the new drive, I had used a Sony CD-RW drive (can't remember specific model number).
Given all the above, I can't help but think that there's some incompatibility issue between the way my new drive burns CD-Rs and the way my Marantz reads them. This is a completely new and expected problem for me, and I'm clueless as to how to troubleshoot. Has anyone else had a similar issue with home CD players unable to recognize CD-Rs after using a new burner? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
