Wrong app for files gone missing. Restore points do not restore our files. That for us and our backup systems which is not automatic in any version of Windows to date.
Since you had all your files transferred you may be in luck as the old drive is usually kept so you have a full backup and ready to reclaim your lost files.
Hi, I recently upgraded my laptop hard drive to SSD. Everything seemed fine, and I had all my files transferred. Then this morning I was using it and all of a sudden it hangs, I was just going into Windows Explorer. After quite a few seconds it opened but my desktop was blank. My start menu only had the basic entries in it. Then I checked my documents, many of them, but not all, are gone. None of my newly installed programs show in the start menu but if I go to Program files, they are there. So I tried system restore, my last restore point was about two days ago; this did not work. And there is only one restore point there even though I know I created several. The system is Windows 10, and the only anti-virus is Windows Defender.
