>>Manage cookies using SpyBot<<

Dec 10, 2004 5:15AM PST

With Spybot you can choose which cookies you want to save. In the advanced mode, under Settings there is a choice called Ignore Cookies. It will bring a list of all cookies on your PC. Put a check mark next to a Cookie that you want to save. Then when you use Spybot's Search & Destroy it will save the chosen cookies. this feature only works within Spybot. If you delete all cookies some other way they will not be saved. So I only manage cookies using Spybot. Cookies to keep are for sites you visit often. The cookie could have sign in info that will remember you. If leaving personal info on a PC is something you don't want, then you need to be careful with cookies.

Personally, I Use The Browser's Ability To Block Them...
Dec 10, 2004 10:09AM PST

Both Firefox and Internet Explorer 6 have the ability to block specific cookies. Because I use a HOSTS file, almost all of the "bad" websites and cookies are blocked. Only a few ever are placed on the computer. When I find them with Ad-Aware or Spybot, then I add them to the small list in my browser.

Just my personal choice. It may not be your's.

Hope this helps.

Jjchgo, Nope, Not Exactly...
Dec 10, 2004 12:24PM PST

....as described in my "Clarification" post in the other forum...it depends on the settings the user chooses...Roddy is referring to the 'default' settings and you aren't. Neither of you are "wrong"...just discussing different options in the same program. Your first post here and in the other forum DID NOT indicate that you had chosen to scan for "Usage Tracks" which is something other than the "default" setting.

Hope this helps.
