Any program can mean a lot. Which one? XP has a burner utility, does it fail? Have you made any hardware or software changes? When did it quit? I know for a fact that the Sony burner program (I forget the name) is super proprietary and I lost a drive because of it.

Tell us more.

Good luck,

Burner problems

Make sure you are free of viruses and other parasites. t Safe Mode, remove every instance of your burner. Reboot and reinstall. Also reinstall youir bruning programs. Note, however, that if you install more than one burning program, they may be in conflict.

burner not recognized
by glennlee / February 28, 2005 3:53 PM PST

I had the same thing happen to me with my last computer (Win 98). A Phillips burner that had been working perfectly suddenly disappeared from the system. It was a hardware failure. The clue: no lights from the burner when system was booting. The system queries all peripherals on boot. The solution: bought another burner. Easily installed by hooking to eide cable and power supply, and immediately recognized by the system on the next boot.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
