It starts out being full featured for a trial and then after 14 days reverts to an on demand scanner unless you buy the product.

Best is very subjective in this case! It comes down quite a bit to what features you are looking for. We include ransomware/zero-day protection features in even our free version, with the option of adding more protection or additional features. (More info on that here)

Take a look at this example also for the kinds of features you might see in free versions vs. paid versions as a comparison, which might help you frame your research and what you're really looking for!
